The Prince and the Rebel (Klaine AU)
“Prince Kurt, the rebels are at the door and I don’t think we can hold them off much longer. You must hurry and flee at once with the rest of your family!”
“Leave me a moment to pack some things,” Kurt’s voice was oddly calm given the situation. The knight gaped at him as though he were mad, and as he opened his mouth to no doubt shout more hysterics, Kurt raised a hand to stop him. “That was an order.”
The knight stared at him in surprise. “Very well then, your Grace, I’ll stand guard at the door. Please hurry,” he said before giving a small bow and exiting the prince’s chambers.
Kurt let out a shaky breath after the door shut and he was finally left alone, though the silence that he yearned did not come. He could the sounds of battle echoing within the castle walls-people shouting, swords clashing, the wails of wounded men, and the crackling of fire. He walked over to his window and looked down at the destruction strewn about the castle grounds. Tears pricked at his eyes, and Kurt tried hard to repress them.
Outside his chamber door there was a shout, a loud thump, and then a crash. Kurt closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he heard the door creak open, and when he didn’t hear the familiar sound of his knight’s armor clanking, he turned slowly.
Kurt’s eyes widened. “B-Blaine…”
