wait what’s it about
To quote the book, “It’s just a small story, really, about, among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, a Jewish fist fighter, and quite a lot of thievery.”
It’s a book narrated by Death and set during World War II. It follows the story of a young girl, Liesel Meminger, and her life in Nazi Germany. But it’s so, so much more than that. It’s written so beautifully. Marygrace has a post about why she loves TBT, and it’s basically exactly my feelings, except summarized much more eloquently, but basically— it’s a book with characters that most people can’t relate to, but it MAKES you care about them.
